Matthew John Harrison is an artist filmmaker based in East Anglia. His work exits in the form of experimental documentary film, with his efforts focusing mostly on rural sub-cultures and their relationship to place. Following his upbringing in the borderlands of Essex and Suffolk, Matthew studied Film and Moving Image at Norwich University of the Arts, and progressed onto studying Factual Development and Production at the National Film and Television School. Now back home in Colchester, Matthew is currently working on a series of experimental documentary films about East Anglian identity. The first of these films Oyster Land, has been shown most notably at Firstsite, The Minories, The Electric Palace Cinema and at The Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft as part of Emily Richardson's Art Station Film


Matthew's next film is about the individuals who choose to drink raw milk across the East, which is being supported by the Firstsite Collectors Group. There's also another film in the works too about the wildfowlers of the Essex coastal marshes which is being made with support from the Hervey Benham Charitable Trust.
